Mr. Wenger, spent 22 years in charge of Arsenal until 2018 . He was linked with the vacant managerial position at Bayern Munich in recent weeks. However, it’s confirmed few minutes ago that he will take up a new position. That is to say, with the FIFA global governing body.
During his long association with the Gunners, Mr. Wenger is widely considered one of the world’s greatest managers. He is also seen among the most influential in Premier League history. The longest serving manager. The man who revolutionised Arsenal FC. The man who guided the Arsenal team of 2003-04 to become Invincibles.
The Frenchman built a strong reputation for his forward-thinking style of play. Therefore, his notion of developing young players as a top priority is very applauded.
Arsene Wenger on his new position:
In his new position Mr. Wenger will be tasked with “driving growth”. This will be for men and women across the globe. FIFA said Wenger will also be considered a “leading authority on technical matters“. He will be a member of the Football and Technical Advisory Panels. He’ll also look into the decision-making processes of potential law changes in the sport.
After his appointment, Mr. Wenger said: “I very much look forward to taking on this extremely important challenge, not only because I have always been interested in analysing football from a broader perspective, but also because FIFA’s mission as world football’s governing body is truly global”
“New FIFA we have seen emerging in recent years has the sport itself at the very heart of its objectives. It is determined to develop the game in its many different components. I know I can contribute to this objective and will put all my energy into this.”
FIFA president Gianni Infantino is very convinced about the former Arsenal boss’s appointment. “Arsene is someone who, with his strategic vision, competence and hard work, has dedicated his life to football. His arrival is just another example of how we keep strengthening our purpose to bring FIFA back to football and football back to FIFA.”
We at Sportsnewsquest wish all the very best to the Grand Old Man of Arsenal!. We look forward to lots of positive changes coming under his leadership.
He is not bigger than Arsenal, but Arsenal are certainly bigger because of him!
