The previous record was held by Ben Stokes, who was sold for INR 14.5 Crore at the 2017 Auction. He also became the second most expensive player in the history of the IPL Auction. Yuvraj Singh remains the highest buy.  He was bought by Delhi for INR 16 Crore at the 2015 Auction.

Cummins has previously played 16 IPL games for Delhi, picking up 17 wickets. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was the second highest buy.
