Champions League: Barcelona Vs Slavia Prague

Barcelona welcome Slavia Prague at the Nou Camp with the hosts looking to bounce back from a shocking loss against Levante in La Liga.

The hosts, Barcelona are yet to lose in the Champions League this time around taking 2 wins and a draw in 3 games so far. Slavia on the other hand are yet a win a single game in the Champions League. This stat is quite contrasting, as on the domestic front they sit 9 points clear on top after 15 games and are yet to lose a game so far.

Injury News:

The good news for Barcelona is that French duo Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele as back in the squad and are available for selection.

Slavia on the other hand will be without Centre Back David Hovorka who continuing his rehabilitation from ACL surgery.

Confirmed Line-ups:

Barcelona – Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; De Jong, Busquets, Vidal; Messi, Griezmann, Dembele;

Formation: 4-3-3

Slavia Prague – Kolar; Boril, Frydrych, Kudela, Coufal; Ibrahim Traore, Soucek; Sevkik; Stanciu ,Olayinka; Masopust;

Formation: 4-2-3-1

What to expect?

The last game between both sides ended with a 2-1 win, in favour of Barcelona. However, the final result doesn’t do much justice as clearly Slavia were a better side. They had more chances, more shots and did not have a substantial difference in possession either. Barcelona had to thank Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who made some spectacular saves that eventually won the game for Barcelona.

This time however, the game is in their fortress where Barcelona kind of activate the ‘All Ammo’ and ‘GOD’ mode cheat codes. So, I kind of predict it will an easy win for them but (yes, there is always a but) will we see another magical Champions League night remains a question to be seen.

Opta Stats:

Barcelona have lost just one of their last 55 home UEFA Champions League matches (W46 D8 L1), and their current home unbeaten run of 33 games (W30 D3 L0) is the longest in the competition’s history.

Barcelona have never lost a UEFA Champions League match at Camp Nou when both Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi have started (W33 D5 L0) – Busquets is unbeaten in his last 45 starts at Camp Nou in the competition (W39 D6 L0), while Messi is unbeaten in his last 43 (W38 D5 L0).

Slavia Prague will be the 56th team to play an away UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona – only six of the previous 55 teams won their first away match there, most recently Rubin Kazan in October 2009.

Prediction:

Barcelona 4-2 Slavia Prague
