The Matchday 3 was really a positive outing for all the Premier League clubs in the Europa League. However, in Matchday 4 it’s kind of a mixed bag for the Premier League sides. The good part is neither of the 4 sides were defeated and are well on course to make it to the next stages of the compitition.
Europa League | Group F
Arsenal FC are in a kind of messy situation right now. There are lots of drama unfolding outside the pitch which is very frustrating for the Gunners fandom. For a start, the news surrounding Granit Xhaka doesn’t seem to shut down. However, in the European front Arsenal youngsters were doing a fine job by winning 3/3 games so far. For the Match Day 4, the London based club made a trip to Portugal to face Vitoria De Guimaraes. It looked like Unai Emery’s man didn’t have any gameplan whatsoever as Vitoria were clearly a dominant side for majority of the game.
The Gunners were bailed out by a Shkodran Mustafi header from a Nicolas Pepe free kick. However, as expected were unable to hold on to the lead as Vitoria scored a much deserved equaliser right at the death. With this draw, Arsenal are top of Group F, but are yet to secure qualification to the next round.
Europa League | Group L
Wolverhampton win three consecutive games in major European competition for the first time since winning their opening six in the 1971-72, with a narrow 1-0 win against Slovan Bratislava. Wolverhampton dominated the possession, chances created and were clearly a better side. However, they had no goals to show for it. Ruben Neves failed to score from the penalty in the 51st minute as well. Raul Jimenez scored at the death to give Wolves a narrow 1-0 win. With this result, Nuno Espirito boys move to 2nd position in Group L and are well poised to make it to the next round.
Europa League | Group K
The Red Devils ran out 3-0 winners against Partizan Beograd with Mason Greenwood, Antony Martial and Marcus Rashford getting on the score sheet. Manchester United are yet to concede a single goal in 4 Europa League games so far and are currently top of Group K. Ole’s is really at the wheels especially when it comes to Europa League?
