IPL 2020: Mushfiqur pulls out of Auction

After Mitchell Starc and Joe Root, Mushfiqur Rahim has also pulled out of the 2020 IPL Auction.

Mushfiqur Rahim has been a big name in Bangladesh Cricket for years now. The veteran Bangladesh cricketer has opted out of the IPL auction this year.

As many as 971 players are set to go under the hammer. The retention lists have also been released by franchises. 73 slots are therefore up for grabs.

Mushfiqur has previously been part of the IPL Auctions twice. However, he remained unsold despite a low base price. In the recently concluded T20I series against India, he played a match-winning knock. It steered Bangladesh to its first-ever T20I win against India after eight losses.

For teams looking for a wicket-keeper batsman, Mushfiqur could have been a good option. He has also been in good form and is vastly experienced. However, with Mushfiqur pulling out, only six Bangladesh players will now be a part of the auction. He will now feature in the Bangladesh Premier League for the Khulna Tigers. The 2019-20 season of the BPL starts on 11th December.

Six Bangladesh players in Auction as Mushfiqur pulls out

The six Bangladesh players to be part of the 2020 IPL auction are listed below.

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar.

Mustafizur is the only one among these to have played in the IPL. He has played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and also Mumbai Indians (MI). However, he is not with any franchise at the moment.

Tamim Iqbal was a part of the Pune Warriors. But the left-hander could not get a game. Mahmadullah has also been a part of the auction. But even he did not get a buyer. Shakib Al Hasan will also miss the IPL. He has been released by SRH following his ban. Shakib was banned by ICC as he failed to report corrupt approaches.

Mashrafe Mortaza, Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Ashraful are the other Bangladesh players to have played the IPL.
