ISL 2020-21: SWOT Analysis of Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC have made a handful of changes to their squad this season hoping to lift their first ISL trophy

Hyderabad FC Training

After finishing their inaugural season of Indian Super League in the 10th position, Hyderabad FC will look to make amends and qualify for the playoffs in the 2020/21 edition. Despite having one of the best managerial minds in the previous season, Albert Roca, the club failed to finish it on the high. All the onus will be on their new manager, Manuel Marquez Roca, to lead the team ahead.

After hitting the rock-bottom in the previous season, the team has let go few of their players and brought in a few veteran players to their side. They have also raked in the A-League right-winger Joel Chianese on a free transfer.

The signing of Joel Chianese can prove to be detrimental in Hyderabad’s pursuit of their first-ever playoffs and probably, the trophy. In the previous two seasons, the player had ten goals to his name in A-League. The player is looking for a new project across the globe and will feature for Hyderabad FC in 2020/21.

One of the threatening wingers in the Indian top-flight, Marcelinho was allowed to leave by the club and can be a cause of concern for Hyderabad FC. When the whole team was struggling, Marcelinho was the bright spot for Hyderabad FC in the previous season. Also, it remains to see how the team can cope without Matthew Kilgallon in the defence.

After going through a torrid time, Adil Khan was back in the Indian national team. The player featured in national colours in the FIFA WC qualifiers and consistent performances in 2020/21 will keep his place at the highest level. Also, Chingalsena Singh might be a regular starter for Hyderabad FC and will have to make the best use of the given opportunities.

The club has gone for a complete overhaul when it comes to the foreign recruits. With a new manager at the helm along with new players, it will be a daunting task for the team to go from the start. If the unit fails to find their perfect XI in the initial game, it’s going to be a short run for Hyderabad FC this season as well.
