Odisha FC have also failed to make it to the top 4 spot up to date. With Stuart Baxter appointed as their coach, the club will be will eager to make it to the semis.

OFC v HFC

After failing to qualify for playoffs in the previous season, Odisha FC finished sixth on the points table. The club will face Hyderabad FC in the inaugural game of the 2020/21 season. The team missed the qualification with just four points. Odisha FC will look forward to making it to the playoffs for the first team this season.

The club has made a few rooted signings, both Indian and foreign players, ahead of the seventh edition of the Indian Super League. They have appointed Stuart Baxter as their manager after parting ways with Josep Gombau at the end of the previous season due to personal concerns.

Strengths

After missing the playoffs spot in the previous season, the club has signed Marcelinho, one of the most prolific strikers in the league on a free transfer. Also, the club has gone to retain Manuel Onwu on a one-year contract extension which seemed great in the second half of the last season. Additionally, the club has Daniel Lalhlimpuia at their disposal who will look to leave a mark in 2020/21 season.

Weakness

Though the club has signed prolific attackers, it has failed to address their defensive issues. The team had one of the worst defensive records in the league after the team shipped 31 goals in the last season. The problem might re-occur in 2020/21 if Steven Taylor fails to get going in the league.

Opportunities

After plying his trade in South Africa throughout his career, Cole Alexander has arrived in India and will look to dominate the midfield for Odisha FC. Also, Vinit Rai had a good season in 2019/20 and will look to earn the national team call-up with a series of consistent performances.

Threats

Along with the new manager, there come new threats. The club will take to settle down in the league after making wholesome changes in terms of the foreign recruits. Moreover, the club has left one of the prominent left-backs, Narayan Das which could haunt the club off the late in the league.
