England all-rounder Sam Curran said that he is keen to play under MS Dhoni. He hopes that the Indian Premier League (IPL) will go ahead sometime this year.
Sam Curran was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a decent sum of INR 5.5 Cr in the auctions. He was set to join the training camp in March. However, the IPL was suspended due to coronavirus pandemic. Curran made a solid impact with the ball in his debut season last year for KXIP. He was also a part of the hat-trick club in last year’s IPL.
He feels it will be an ‘incredible experience.’ Sam Curran said he is eager to share the dressing room at CSK. He is also eager to learn from the greats of the game and pick their brains.
“I am obviously very gutted to see what’s going on at the moment. We would have probably been together at the moment in Chennai but obviously there are a lot more more important things going on. I am very excited to be playing alongside the captain, MS Dhoni. That’s going to be really like an incredible experience for me,” Sam Curran said during an Instagram live with CSK.
“They have a great coach in Stephen Fleming. And there are huge Indian superstars there as well. Just to be able to pick their brains I have actually heard from Sam Billings. He was there for the last couple of years.
“It’s an amazing franchise and a great set up. It’s something I am hoping that IPL will still go ahead whenever that is and I will get to represent Chennai.”
Sam Curran picks Dhoni as his favourite CSK player
Sam Curran was quick to respond when asked who his favourite CSK player is.
“There are a lot of extremely talented players but I think it’s hard to go past MS Dhoni. Dhoni is obviously a legend of international cricket. He has achieved so much in the game. I am really hoping the IPL does go ahead and I can pick his brains and play alongside him. I have heard he is a great captain. I am just excited to be part of the franchise,” Curran said.
