Serie A Preview – Juventus Vs AC Milan

Serie A

Juventus host AC Milan in the Serie A this weekend, with the Old Lady looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Maurizio Sarri men have won 9 and drawn two of their 11 games so far. They look well on course to collect 9th Serie A title in a row but face strong compitition from Antonio Conte’s Inter.

AC Milan on the other hand are having a dismal campaign yet again. The Rossoneri sit in an uninspiring 11th place, having only taken 13 points so far in 11 games, and are 16 points behind Juventus.

Team News:

Georgio Chelleni is in the long term injury list with Di Sciglio and De Ligt being assessed ahead of the game for Juventus. Sarri also mentioned that Cristiano Ronaldo has a slight problem, but should make it.

Milan on the other hand have a relatively fit squad ahead of the game with the only exception being Suso and Samu Castillejo who are monitored ahead of the game.

Possible line-ups:

Juventus – Szczesny; Sandro, Rugani, Bonucci, Cuadrado; Matuidi, Pjanic, Bentancur, Ramsey; Ronaldo, Dybala;

Formation: 4-4-2 (D)

AC Milan – Donnarumma; Calabria, Leo Duarte, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Krunic, Bennacer, Lucas Paqueta; Castellijo, Piatek, Calhanoglu;

Formation: 4-3-3

Opta Stats:

Juventus have won all of their home Serie A encounters against AC Milan since they started playing at the Juventus Stadium (Allianz Stadium): eight wins, with 17 goals in total (2.1 on average).

AC Milan are currently 11th in the Serie A table, their lowest placing after the opening 11 games of a Serie A season (since 3 points have been awarded for a win).

No side have gained more points thanks to goals scored in the last 30 minutes of play in Serie A 2019/20 than Juventus (also Atalanta). In contrast, AC Milan have lost more points in the same period than any other side (seven).

What to expect:

Juventus have historically dominated this fixture, and look in good shape to continue the trend later this week. With 189 games played between the two in all competitions, the Old Lady has come out on top 75 times. Milan have not away against Juventus in Serie A since 8 years with the last win coming way back in 2011.

Rossoneri are suffering from inconsistent form and are struggling to beat sides in the top six, with losses coming against fierce rivals Inter, Roma and Lazio. A trip to Juventus is the last thing that they need right now!
