Juventus are Serie A champions

Juventus clinches ninth straight Serie A title after 2-0 win over Sampdoria. Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time with his 31st league goal of the season and later Federico Bernardeschi added second. Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny gave stellar performance and kept clean sheet as Cristiano won his second Serie A title in Italy. Juve is now mathematically out of reach of the other contenders with two matches to go in the season. Second-place Inter Milan can only get to 82 points, one fewer than Juventus’s current tally of 83.

Jamie Vardy becomes oldest PL Golden Boot winner

Jamie Vardy becomes oldest Premier League player to win Golden Boot award. At the age of 33, he scored 23 goals in 2019-20 season and broke the record of Didier Drogba who won at 32 with Chelsea in 2010. Apart from both Nicolas Anelka is the only other player aged 30 to win the Golden Boot. In other news, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson claimed Premier League Golden Gloves with 16 clean sheets.

ISL 2019-20 Golden Ball winner Hugo Boumous have announced that he parted ways with FC Goa. 25 year-old French-Moroccan midfielder is first player in the ISL history to register double digits of goals and assists in a season. In an emotional Instagram post, Boumous wrote, “I’m grateful to have represented the colours and the state of Goa across India. Thanks for all the love I received from the fans.” Few hours later club issued official statement stating that Boumous is still in contract and not going anywhere.

PKL not to get ₹60 cr from Vivo

If Pro Kabaddi League gets cancelled, it could lose the annual sponsorship deal of ’60 crore from Chinese title sponsor Vivo. Kabbadi is a contact sport which is the biggest problem for the organizers. Vivo is also the title sponsor of IPL 2020 which is why the BCCI-Vivo deal has come under the scanner. Right now PKL in India is not possible rumours are still going on about PKL’s move to Sri Lanka.

Graham Reid applauds Indian hockey coaches

Indian men’s hockey team coach Graham Reid believes that the country has some of the best hockey brains. Hockey India is conducting specialised online workshops for top-level Indian coaches. Australian Olympic silver medallist also said that it’s a great initiative by Hockey India to utilise this spare time. These workshops are being organised by Hockey India from July to August 2020 and will see six foreign coaches conducting various sessions for the Indian coaches.

Carolina Marín’s father passes away

Rio Olympics gold medallist Carlolina Marín lost her father Gonzalo Marin Perez. Gonzalo Perez had suffered an accident five months ago and unfortunately couldn’t recover from the fall. Carolina Marín had rushed home to Huelva after the All England when her father suffered from an accident. The badminton world extends its support to Carolina Marín and all her family in these difficult moments.
