Virat Kohli and his RCB love affair

Rajeev Shukla says starting IPL after April 15 is impossible

Virat Kohli is not just a star in international cricket, he has also had a tremendous IPL career. A young Virat Kohli, who had just won India the Under-19 World Cup in 2008, was bought by RCB at the auctions ahead of the inaugural season. For the past twelve seasons, RCB is the only franchise Kohli has ever played for. Kohli was also handed the captaincy reigns in 2013, leading the franchise every season ever since. He also took RCB to the finals in 2016, where they missed out by a narrow margin. Leading from the front, the skipper had a dream season, amassing a record 973 runs, including 4 hundreds.

Virat Kohli has never been shy of expressing his love for the franchise. He has done so on many occasions. And he did so yet again, on the recent instagram live session with teammate AB de Villiers. Despite not having won a single title yet, Virat Kohli said he has no plans of ever leaving the franchise, whatsoever. He went on to praise the fans, saying their love and loyalty has been second to none, throughout seasons.

RCB have made it to three IPL finals, however, failed to lift the trophy even once. Speaking to de Villiers, Virat Kohli said that winning the tournament together is their dream and ultimate goal. He said that he would never leave the team, irrespective of how they perform.

“…till the time I am playing IPL, I am never leaving this team..,” says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and his RCB love affair

It has been such an amazing journey. It is always going to be our dream, winning the IPL together. There is no scenario where I could think of leaving the team ever. “You can feel emotional about the season not going well but till the time I am playing IPL, I am never leaving this team. The fans, their loyalty has been amazing,” said the RCB skipper.

From a young chubby lad, to the greatest ever, RCB has seen the complete transformation of Virat Kohli. Sharing the dressing room with some of the greats throughout seasons, Kohli has only learnt and evolved as a better cricketer. He has also credited RCB for his successful journey. In 177 innings for RCB, Kohli has scored 5412 runs, with 5 hundreds. He is also amongst the highest run-scorers in the history of the league.

The RCB skipper said that the Bengaluru-franchise deserves to win the silverware, that has long eluded them. It is only fitting to say that winning the IPL with RCB would be one of the finest moments of his career, and a perfect tribute to the loyal and loving fans as well.
